Nearby Live is a smartphone based social networking app that was initially launched as a Windows mobile App, but is available across iTunes , Android and Windows 8 app. With the rise in mobile consumers recently there has been a surge of smartphone based social networking apps.
The app was launched as “Who’s Near Me Live” abbreviated as WNM Live, was later re-branded as Nearby Live. The app is now available across all popular platforms, Android, Windows Mobile, iTunes, Web App, Facebook and Windows 8.
The App allows users to connect to complete strangers via app and share pictures, indulge in group chats, one-to-one chats and much more. The app allows users to indulge in all these social activities while still maintain anonymity that is you do not need to share your profile information with other users.
So is Nearby Live yet another Dating App
Well both Yes and No. While most of the users download it thinking it as a dating app, Nearby ,CEO and founder,Brian Hamachek differs. According to Hamachek, Nearby is “an anonymous place where you can share your true self and meet people.”
With more than 2.7 million registered users Nearby Live sure has come a long way. So if you are a user in Europe or India then chances are that you may have encountered someone using the app, as these two regions have the highest number of users.
The app also has a reputation system where you can grade your fellow users, it also has a point system. Users can gift Points to other users, or buy points . The points can in turn be used to send Virtual gifts to other users in App.Points also determine your rank in the social sphere of the app, more the points better the rank.
We tried this app in our Android Smartphone and Windows Smartphone as well. While the Windows Phone app was a lot smooth but Android App did hang a few times perhaps the app still needs some fixes. But if you want to indulge in some time wasting activity then this the app you are looking for. While we couldn’t meet anyone from nearby, we joined a few group chats, and as you can imagine it was full of BS. People sharing there nude pics and abusive languages are a direct outcome of anonymous social network. But then its just words and you can always logout.We would say try this app for once.
